Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said the club has proposed a new contract for midfielder Jack Wilshire. However, the English national has not yet decided whether to accept it. “I do not know what is going on in his head, but the club wants him to stay here, so he has a new contract, but he has not signed, and the contract we have offered him is long-term and I hope he will accept it, Wenger told Wilshire, who has become a free agent since summer.
“It is normal for every player to want to be paid well and our policy is to keep the quality players, so I can assure you that they get enough money,” the Frenchman added. Wenger also said Arsenal’s goal to end the season is to finish in front of Burnley.
However, the Frenchman pointed out that Burnley manager Sean Dick and Manchester City champion José Guardiola are the two candidates for the “Manager of the Year” award. Arsenal on Sunday accepted West Ham in a 35th round of the Premier League, with an injured striker Henrik Mhitarian. The match group will be Aaron Ramsey and David Ospina, who have not been training in recent days. Wenger also said he would use the upcoming match for the club to use at the Atletico Madrid meeting next Thursday of the Europa League semifinals.
Several clubs from the English Premier League have a keen interest in Wilshire.
