The Wolfsburg team beat Hanover 96 with 2: 0 and qualified for the eighth finals in the German Cup. The victory did not come easy, the hosts were close to leveling a few times, and the second goal for the guests fell in the added time of the match. Wolfsburg scored Admir Mehmedi in the 20th minute and W. Veghorst in the 93st.
The guests took a bare return in the first half. Admir Mehmedi was right in the 20th minute, using a mistake in the home defense and with a great shot gave Wolfsburg a lead in the fight for the eighth finals in the tournament.
Otherwise in the 10th minute, Hannover 96 players had a chance to lead, but Hendrik Weidman was unable to write.
Five minutes later, Maximilian Arnold threatened the host’s door, but his shot was not good enough.
After Mehmedi’s defeat, Hannover attempted to regain equality and had several options, but failed. The visitors also had chances for a second goal but the result remained 0: 1 to the break.
29 minutes into the match, Admir Mehmedi tried a variation that brought the ball through to the other end of the penalty area, giving the home team the lead.
Twice at the end of half Hannover was near a shot. In the 44th Tucama Asano failed to overcome Cohen Castells, and a little later Ihla Bebu shoots over the opponent’s goal.
In the first minutes of the second half, the two teams organized dangerous attacks, with the first chance in the 55th place not being on the side of the hosts. A minute later, Jerome Roussillon failed to increase his team’s advance.
Retired as a reserve, Bobby Wood, fired off the Wolfsburg gate in the 68th minute, and then Genki Haraguchi missed a chance for Hannover 96.
The hosts kept trying to reach the goal, and in the 78th minute Hendrik Veidant did not succeed.
Wolfsburg could put an end to the intrigue earlier, but only in the added time, Wooten Veghorst scored 2-0 for the guests and stamped the next round of the tournament.
The final moments were full of tension, with the hosts claiming a penalty, but they still could not reach a goal in the Wolfsburg door.
